Briana Calhoun is an emerging artist with a tenet all her own. Raised in the small town of Farmerville, La., she is a teacher, mother, wife, artist, songwriter, and champion for the underdog.
Calhoun’s unique songwriting style and story is beginning to catch the ears of folks beyond Louisiana. Most recently, Calhoun filmed a documentary depicting her incredible journey with music legend Kix Brooks and former NBC meteorologist and host of the acclaimed “A Drop of Sunshine” podcast, Daphne Deloren Matheny.
Having been through many of her own personal struggles, Calhoun believes her music is a platform to tell a true story of perseverance, faith, and triumph.
“I don’t just want to entertain people,” Calhoun said. “I want to give them hope.”
She has also written and performed with several award-winning songwriters and artists in Nashville and, last spring, recorded a six-song EP at the renowned Sound Kitchen Studios in Franklin, Tn.
The documentary is set to be released in 2022. In the meantime, the first two singles off Briana’s EP, “Let Jesus Drive,” and her autobiographical song “If These Boots Could Talk” are available on all digital streaming platforms.
